PA AUCKLAND, Aug. 22. A decrease of £635 to £3462 is shown In the net profit of Whittome, Stevenson and Co., Ltd., for the year ended June 30. The result is reached after providing £340 less for taxation at £4660. The dividend is unchanged at 7J per cent, (final 5 per cent.), and absorbs £2306, leaving £1156 to increase the carry-for-ward to £7623. The gross profit from trading was £2209 lower at £23,516. 1 interest from investments was £3O, against £39 in the previous year. Expenses, including taxation, were £1585 lower at £19,412, and £372 was alio- ed for depreciation, against £371. The directors state that stocks are in good order and are sufficient to meet requirements in the coming year. A slight decrease in the net profit at £1873 is shown in the accounts of Dominion Builders’ Supplies (Christchurch) Ltd., for the year ended April 30. The net profit in 1948 was £2083, against £1996 in 1947 and £1206 in 1946. With the addition of £761 brought forward, the sum availt ble for distribution is £2634, The directors recommend payment of a dividend of 7 per cent, (unchanged) free from Social Security tax. This absorbs £1590, leaving £1044 to be carried forward. The gross profit from the trading account is shown at £7723, against £8164 in the previous year.
