FOOD PARCELS
SOUTH AFRICAN WAR VETERANS " One of the finest things the association has ever done.” This comment was made by several members of the South African War Veterans’ Association at the annual meeting last night when excerpts from some of the 30 letters from South African veterans in Britain acknowledging food parcels, sent by the association were read. Before Christmas, 1948, 106 food parcels, financed by surplus funds from the veterans' annual conference last February, had been sent to Britain. The balance sheet showed the association to be in a sound financial position. Office-bearers elected were President, Mr A. Duncan; vice-presidents—Messrs Edgar C. Hazlett, J. Sutherland, W. Dobson. A. R. Falconer, J. C. Rigby, D. Munro: committee—Messrs J. Culling, W. A. Saunders, J. C. Seelye, J. Maskew, J. Cairney, J. McCracken. R. McGregor, H. Potter. G. McKellar, F. Stone, C. Todd, L. Ellis, A. Jardine, P. Swaney, A. Walker, R. Meffen, A. Harris; hon. secretary, Mr W. Dobson; hon. treasurer, Mr W. A. Saunders; hon. auditor, Mr J. C. Seelye.
