POWER SITUATION

Voluntary Saving Necessary The Power Restrictions Committee of the Waitaki Electric Power Board considered the power position yesterday morning after the following communication had been received from the district electrical engineer, Christchurch:— "All engineers are asked to formulate plans which will enable them to reduce load in cases of emergency 10 or 20 per cent., as conditions may demand. Please have someone in attendance for the following peak hours:—ll a.m. to noon and 4 P.m. to 6 p.m." The engineer Mr N. A. Davidson, stressed the need for voluntary saving, and said that if the necessary support was not forthcoming rationing would have to be enforced.
