FIRST OUT MAY RACE WELL AT BIRCHWOOD HUNT
Tlie racing season in Southland will be brought to a close to-day, when the Birchwood Hunt Club will hold its annual meeting at Invercargill. There have been a number of scratchings, and the fields are likely to be on the small side. It is unlikely that divisions will be necessary in the Otautau Harness Trot and the Birchwood Novice Handicap, as the fields require only three and one scratching respectively to bring them to the safety limits. The track is expected to be very heavy. The following horses may race well:— 11.0: Hunters' Flat Handicap.—Relampago, Recharge. 11.40: Otautau Harness Trot.—First division: Neltod, Biddy’s Pet Second division: Sierra Sue, Counterpart. 12.30: Birchwood Novice Handicap.— First division: Paprika; Sweet Lorraine Second division: High Quest.
