FOUR NOMINATIONS
Acclimatisation Society
The secretary, Mr A. C. Piper, reported to the monthly meeting of the Waitaki Acclimatisation Society on Thursday night that four nominations had been received for the four vacant seats on the council, and a ballot would not be necessary. Those nominated were Messrs W. Goodall, W. Thomas, S. Tonkin and J. A. Wray. Dr E. E. Butler was in the chair, and there were also present—Messrs W. Thomas, I. A. Taylor, J. I. Keen, S. Tonkin, A. Rennie and J. Wray. A motion ofl sympathy was passed with the relatives in the death of Mr W. Penman. Mr Taylor reported that the Gemmel’s Crossing Reserve had been levelled and cleared by bulldozer, and councillors expressed satisfaction at the way in which the work had been done. Mr Rennie was appointed to organise a working party to construct a track into the reserve. The secretary reported that £6O 17s had been (distributed during March as token payments for ferrets, stoats, weasels, hedgehogs, hawks and German owls.
