OBITUARY

MR CHARLES N. CORNISH Mr Charles N. Cornish, of 50 Helensburgh road. Wakari. who served with' the Fourth New Zealand Contingent in the South African War, passed away on Tuesday last at the age of 74 years, and was interred in the Anderson’s Bay Cemetery. Among the many veterans and friends present at the funeral, his brother Richard, of Auckland, who also served in the South African War, was able to'attend. For several years Mr Cornish held office on the executive of the South African Veterans’ Association, and was highly esteemed by his fellow-mem-bers. Mr Cornish was born on the Taieri and brought up to farming pursuits, his family being among the earliest settlers on the plain. He is survived by a widow, two sons and three daughters.
