“CURSE AND BLESSING”

UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE ACCREDITING PA WELLINGTON. May 13. The accrediting system is both a curse and a blessing, said Mr R M Webber (Nelson College), at the annual conference of the Technical School Teachers’ Association. He was discussing proposals that technical schools should be placed on the university entrance accrediting list. “ It is a blessing, in borderline hardship cases,” he said. “It is a curse In the cases of pupils who, at the end of the second term, are in a position to be confident that they have been included in the list going forward for crsdits ** Mr Webber said that at one school in his experience the work of some pupils in their third term was seriously affected. They were aware that Jhe accredit list had gone forward at the end of the second term, and if they were in the upper half of their form on the placings at the end of that term, they could not be persuaded to work in the last term of the year.
