STRONG CONDITION
WEALTH OF UNITED STATES CONFIDENCE IN FUTURE EXPRESSED Rec. 9 p.m. WASHINGTON, May 12. The nation’s wealth is in an exceptionally strong condition, said Mr John W. Snyder, Secretary ot the Trea'-urv in an address to a conference of bankers. He added: “ There are powerful factors in our present situation making lor stability and progress on high ine and high employment levels. In the past recessions have been touched uu
by the collapse of the shaky foundations of the speculative structure. Today, in contrast, our position is exceptionally strong, and we can look into the future with confidence of the experience in our ability to t maintain that strength. Speculation has been virtually absent during our years of post-war prosperity.'' Mr Snyder described recent deflationary trends as part of the “ gradual process of post-war adjustments to normal competitive conditions.”
