Mayors Birthday

Many congratulations were showered on the Mayor, Sir Donald Cameron, last night when he mentioned at a reception to Dr A. H. McLintock, that it was his birthday. He was thanking the Historical Committee of Otago for the presentation of a copy of the " History of Otago " in recognition of his work as Mayor and as chairman of fl the Centennial Association during 1948.

Sir Donald was born in 1877, and was celebrating his 72nd birthday. Such celebrations did not interfere with his Mayoral duties, however, and after the reception, which lasted until 10 p.m., he left to attend the crowning of the Dunedin Labour Party carnival queen.
