ANZAC AND OTHER DAYS
Sir, —Thanks to Frank de Lisle, “An Observer,” and ” Rightful Place ” for their letters on the above subject. There i» a glaring difference between the observance of Anzac, Good Friday, and other sacred days. Sunday, especially, is almost universally desecrated by the, holding of all sorts of sports, Sunday ’trading, air pageants, and even some public bodies go on tours of inspection of public works. Years ago, a farmer was fined for yoking up his team on Anzac Day. Why not prosecute all desecrators of the Sabbath Day? On Anzac Day a dawn service is observed, but there is none on Easter Sunday, a day of supreme importance. Most of the hundreds who attend Anzac services never appear in a place of Divine worship at any other time. It seems as if they worship thfc creature more than the Creator. For the benefit of those who have never held a Bible in their hands, allow me to quote part of one of the Ten Commandments: “Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour and do all thy work. But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord, thy God. In it, thou shalt not do any work. ...” Let that sink into their conscience—lf they have any.—l am, etc., Star.
