BEACH FATALITY
BOY MAULED BY SHARK NZPA—Copyright BRISBANE, Apl. 18. A 13-year-old boy, Richard Joseph Maguire, was fatally mauled yesterday by a shark at Ellis Beach, near Cairns, The boy, who was bathing with other children in 3ft of water, had his leg bitten off at the hip. Two men dragged the boy from the water, but he was dead when he reached the beach. The boy’s father was a witness of the fatality.
