FURTHER DROP IN PRICES The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board advises that the third sale for the season of pickled sheep and lamb pelts under the Pelt Regulations, 1949, was held in Wellington on Wednesday before a representative bench of buyers. Offerings were heavy, totalling 281 lots comprising 108,917 dozen sheep and 298,134 dozen lamb pelts. Prices for sheep pelts showed a decline of between 10 per cent, and 20 per cent, on those of the last sale, whilst those for lamb pelts receded by approximately 25 per cent. The range of prices included:—Canter-bury-Otago: Sheep, 59s to 66s per dozen; Lambs, 32s 6d to 55s per dozen. Southland: Sheep. 60s to 71s 6d per dozen; lambs, 34s to 51s per dozen.
