AUCKLAND PIANIST

TESSA BIRNIE TO STUDY IN EUROPE By Harvey Blanks LONDON, Mar. 14. A pianist well known in New Zealand, Miss Tessa Birnie, of Auckland is shortly leaving for the Continent to continue her studies. She has been studying in London for some time, but, recently was accepted as a pupil of M Y Lefebure, of Paris, who was the teacher of Dinu Lupatti—one of the foremost concert pianists in the world to-day.

Later, Miss Birnie will go on to Lake Como, in Italy, where she is to have a course of private lessons with Karl Ulrich Schnabel, well known to many New Zealand music lovers by his gramophone records of works by Mozart and Beethoven.
