NONE TILL MONDAY
OYSTER BOATS NOT OPERATING BAD WEATHER AT BLUFF Special Correspondent INVERCARGILL, Mar. 24.. The severity of the weather in Southland in the past week is reflected in the interruption of oystering operations. Bad weather means no oysters, and since last Monday there have been no supplies. The oyster boats have been forced to stay in port for seven days because of the boisterous conditions in Foveaux Strait, and the oysters on sale last Monday exhausted the supplies kept in the beds at the wharf. All fishing operations have been curtailed at the port. The weather yesterday was more settled, Lut no oysters will be obtainable until Monday at the earliest. Although no outstanding catches have been reported since the season opened, the season has been successful up to last week. Regular catches have been brought to the port by the 10 boats operating, and, apart from the oysters absorbed on the Southland market, the usual big quantities were despatched to northern centres.
