RIVER REPORTS

There is no report to hand from the Wyndham district, but it is expected that the river, which rises in the same territory as the Waipghi, will be high and discoloured. The Mataura River is also likely to be high.. The Mimihau, however, should be in good order. The Catlins, which is only slightly up, is in good condition, but the Owaka is poor for fishing. The Pomabaka is also high, and discoloured. The weather reports are not bright for the weekend. The Shag River has risen about four inches but is still low and weedy, particularly in the upper reaches. There has been very little rain in this district, although there is some snow on the hills, and if this comes away the river will rise sharply. The Bushey area should still be the best for the week-end. As the result of heavy rain in the back country. Mahinerangi dam is now around the 86ft mark and will he covering quite a lot of new territory. It should be well worth a visit.
