TRAM FARES
CONCESSION DEARER THAN CASH TRIBUNAL DECISION An interpretation of the decision of the Price Tribunal on increased tram fares has been received by the Transport Committee of the City Council from the Director of Price Control, according to the report of the committee to be submitted to a meeting of the council on Monday night. The .interpretation refers particularly to passengers travelling five and six sections and provides that in such cases the correct fare shall be one clip off a four-section concession ticket plus 2d for five sections and plus 3d when six sections are travelled, y “This decision has necessarily been put into effect, but the committee desires to point out that the effect will be that the new combined concession and cash fare proposed will be greater than the cash fare for each particular iourney,” the report states. The report also refers to supplies of tram rails. Correspondence between the Public Passenger Transport Association and the Department of Industries and Commerce on the subject of priority of supplies, it is stated, indicated that no assurance could be ob r tained from the manufacturers in England that supplies would be available at an early date.
