READY RESPONSE

METHODIST CHURCH APPEAL YOUTH CAMP AT MAUNGATUA The appeal recently launched by the Methodist Church for funds to develop its youth camp, “ Wesley dale,” at Maungatua, has met with a ready response from church members and friends. Contributions received by the Appeal Committee now amount to £750. The “target” of the appeal is £3OOO and the committee is confident that this sum will be raised. Work on the development of the camp ground has been pushed ahead The erection of the main hall has now reached the stage where the roof has been covered in. Playing areas are being mapped out, and the construction of women’s quarters is now under consideration. A start will be made in the near future to plant up to 50 acres of the area in trees. The property covers 213 acres, much of which is at present covered with manuka scrub. In later years, when the trees mature, it is hoped to derive some revenue from the timber.
