Loss of Water In City
The loss of almost 1,000,000 gallons 'of water from the Dunedin reservoirs during the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday, following a loss of more than 500,000 gallons during the previous day, has resulted in a fall to 84,206,000 gallons of the total volume in storage, and gives a reminder that the water position in the city is still serious. On Thursday morning a loss of 570,000 gallons for the 24 hours was revealed; yesterday morning the 24-hour loss was found to be 990,000 gallons. All the increased storage gained as a result of the recent rain has now been lost, and the reservoir storage is now down to the figure of a month ago. The streams in the catchment area are now drying up.
