OTAGO DEFEATS SOUTHLAND GOOD FIELDING SEEN The Otago women’s cricket Second XI defeated a Southland representative team at Dunedin on Saturday by 13 runs on the first innings. The visiting side was the first Southland team to play for the province for 16 years and it gave a creditable performance against a more experienced side. The only Southiand players with previous representative experience were J. Kett, the captain, who contributed a fine 38 not out, and C. Baker, whose score of 27 was the next highest for her side. The youngest member of the Otago team, E. Butler, played a fine innings for 36 and E. Paton contributed a good 27. The fielding of both teams was good, six of the visitors being caught and three Otago players. W. Lewis, the Southland wicket-keeper, was in excellent form. Scores : Southland First Innings M.
