CLAIM FOR NEW AWARD

FOOTWEAR TRADE WORKERS PA AUCKLAND, Jan. 17. Covering 5000 operatives, draft claims for a new award to replace that which expires in March were formulated at the national conference in Auckland last week by the New Zealand Federation of Footwear Trade Employees. Weekly wages of £7 13s will be claimed for journeymen workers or 3s 10d hourly, instead of the present 3s 6id. The workers' claims will be in the form of a cross citation to claims already filed by the employers on the basis of the existing agreement. Boot repairers and bespoke workers, who are under a different agreement, will also seek a new award based on 3s lOd an hour for journeymen instead of the present 3s 7d.
