RACIAL RIOTS IN DURBAN

Rec. 11 p.m. DURBAN, Jan. 14. Scores of Africans and Indians were injured and motor buses and cars were damaged by stones and shop windows shattered during racial riots in Durban’s Indian quarter last night. The cause of the riots is not known. First reports said no Europeans were involved. All available police were called out and every ambulance in the city was used to take the wounded to hospital. Mobile squads in lorries and troopcarriers patrolled the trouble centres.
