Taking charge after half a mile from home. Air Lord won the High-weight Handicap well. Millv Mandy was the first to show out and at the six. Robot had taken charge. He was joined by Whakawhatea racing down the back, where Air Lord, Milly Mandy, and Beau Son headed the others. Air Lord led at the half, and after being clear at the home turn, he was first into the straight from Whakawhatea, Milly Mandy. Sylvan and Governor, in the run home, Air Lord held °ff Whakawhatea to beat him by a head with Sylvan two lengths back third. Governor was a head away fourth, with Milly Mandy and Beau Soti next. Kingsley’s Win Kingsley won the New Year Trot impressively. Several of the runners failed to begin correctly and at the end of two furlongs La Lante broke and badly checked Evnsford Oak. With a mile to run, Trusty Dale was clear of Jingles Pride, Sporty Boy, Kingsley, Gold Gift, Foreign Lady and Eynsford Oak. Foreign Lady moved up down the back straight and she continued her run at the home turn to be first into the straight from Kingsley, Sporty Boy, and Jingles Pride Kingsley headed Foreign Lady in the run home and she beat her by three lengths, with Sporty Boy stopping into third place four lengths away. There was a break of 10 lengths to Sandy Bridge (fourth), followed by Jingles Pride and Gold Gift. Finished Under Hold Faites vos Jeux won the Omakau Handicap in a four-horse field under a good hold. Bath Slipper jumped out with the field but she refused to go any further and took no part in the race. Faites vos Jeux and Mysterious Melody led down the back straight from Verdant, but at the half Faites vos Jeux was shading Mysterious Melody. Faites vos Jeux was first into the straight and he won easily by three lengths Verdant finished better than Mysterious Melody to beat him by a length for second. Solid Finish Valiant Prince finished solidly, to win the Novice Handicap after being well back in his field in the middle stages. Castlebar got away badly. Lady Hotspur soon ran to the front and she led down the back from Picfair and Friar Philip with Golden Mirage heading a bunched field. At the straight entrance Lady Hotspur was still in charge from Picfair, Friar Philip, Dinnyhazer. Castlebar and Valiant Prince. In the run home, Valiant Prince soon bad the upper hand ana he beat Dinnyhazer by a good length, with Sweet Lorraine two lengths away. Llgnts On finished well to be a head away fourth with Golden Mirage, Lady Hotspur. Friar Philip and Castlebar next. Good Dividend Bobby Dazzler paid a good dividend in the Clare Memorial Handicap, but he just beat Turora by a head. Kosher, Paper View, and Turora were the smartest on the journey, but racing into the back Turora took over from Paper View, with Bobby Dazzler moving into third
