TRADES UNION INQUIRY
CONDUCT OF NATIONALISED INDUSTRIES BRITISH COUNCIL’S ACTION NZPA—Copyright Rec. 8 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 23. The Trades Union Congress General Council will make a comprehensive inquiry into the administration and conduct of nationalised industries, says the industrial correspondent of the Daily Telegraph. Most members of the general council consider that a farreaching probe is necessary into weaknesses which have revealed themselves. They feel this should be followed by a plain-speaking report intended to effect changes if necessary in the Socialist nationalisation policy. This action follows criticism of the administration of nationalised industries at the Labour Party conference in May. It is intended to make the objective report wide in scope, with the fullest documentation of problems encountered so far in the running of the State industries.
