LIMITED TRAINING WORK THIS WEEK ON RICCARTON TRACKS

CHRISTCHURCH. De. 23.
With the departure of the team that will race at the Dunedin meeting, the Riccarton tracks are very quiet. There remain only the candidates for the West Coast circuit and the fresh lots for the Waikouaiti, OamarU and Kurow meetings. There will be very little doing on the local tracks for the next fortnight. Competitive is unlikely to start in the Stewards’ Handicap on the first day of the Dunedin meeting. There is no need to hurry his appearance in open company, as he will be better suited by hack events later in the trip. He and his two stablemates, Disturbance and Infatuate, all look like paying their way. Finigin Is an acceptor for the first day at Wingatui, but he may not race till the ground is softened by rain. Golden Amber has been in a place five times this season without a win, and her third in the Canterbury Cup looked a good trial for the Dunedin Cup. Though he has not done any fast trials. Maryburn has got through a lot of good work and he may be in the money soon. Money Lender and Card Money are two useful hack prospects from here for southern meetings. Limpid has good winning form to make her favourite for the Dunedin Champagne Stakes. Neptina has come on a lot since she was fifth on the final day at Riccarton and she looks as if she will stay. The team that has gone from here for the Auckland meeting looks the strongest we have had for some years. Bruce and his brother, Royal Tan, backed up by Kartikeya and Coral Arc, make a stout quartet in the Auckland Cup and any one of the four may do well. Citril i 3 a good sprint prospect The following riding engagements have been made for the Dunedin meeting:— C. T. Wilson: Theocritus, Rosswood. Limpid, Chord (also Signal Officer, Hazlett Cup, second day). C. Stokes: Finigin, Money Lender, All Hurry, Swayup. D. J. Thistoll: Radar, Competitive, Disturbance. H. W. Hibberd: Infatuate, Neptina, Falconbridge (Julius Caesar, Hazlett Cup) R. W. Shaw: Musselman, Robin Redbreast, Robinfaye. E. G. Low: Ned Kelly, General Argosy, Supreme Command. W. D. Skelton: Maryburn. D. F. Coombe. Balkis. -
Though the light-welgnt apprentice, N. E. Eastwood, will not be at the Dunedin meeting, he will go south next week, with Arctic Circle and Military Chief, and will ride them at Oamaru.
