Golden Amber and Magical are Fancied For Wingatui Double
SPORTING
Followers of galloping and trotting will be well catered for during the holidays, beginning on Monday with meetings at Dunedin, Manawatu, Taranaki, Auckland, Ashburton, Gore, and Westport. The card for the opening of the local meeting is a good one, containing as it does the Dunedin Cup, the Publicans’ Handicap, and the Champagne Stakes. The Cup field is not a classy one, blit the horses engaged should provide an interesting race. Golden Amber is the ruling favourite, and will no doubt be given pride of place on the totalisator.
The course at Wingatui is in splendid order, and at the time of writing the going was firming up nicely. If no rain falls in the meantime, it will be fast on Monday.
