Halstead, of Christchurch, who will arrive in Dunedin today, will be the guests of Mrs E. M. Scoular, of Park street, from Monday. Mr and Mrs W. B. Dell, of Christchurch, who will arrive in Dunedin to-day, will be the guests of Mrs W. J. White, of Bayfield road.
A happy Christmas party was held at the Watea Croquet Club's lawns when the president, Mrs Rayner, and her committee entertained members. The cutting of a Christmas cake made and decorated by the president was a feature of the afternoon.
The members of the executive of the Otago Pioneer Women’s Memorial Association were the guests of the president, Dr E. H. McKinnon, at her home in Cargill street. Interesting competitions were held during the afternoon, and prizes were presented to the winners.
The committee of the Tainul Croquet Club entertained members and honorary members at a Christmas party last .Saturday. Afternoon tea was served in the pavilion, and the distribution of paper hats and balloons lent a festive air to the proceedings. Christmas greetings were exchanged, and an enjoyable afternoon was spent on the lawns. Last Saturday evening, in the YWCA lounge, some of the pupils of Mrs Yetti M. Bell took part in a recital for the entertainment of their parents and friends. The programme consisted of songs and pianoforte music, solos, duets, duos and a double duo. Those who provided the programme were Patricia Napper, Jennifer Scott, Audrey Heatherington, Janice Duthie, James Phillips. Graham Batts, Dianne Marshall, Peter Holst, Ingrid Holst, Fay Hartley, Miss A. Knowles and Miss E. Kerr. Mrs Bell played the accompaniments, and supper was afterwards served in the studio in Moray place. On Saturday the honorary members of the St. Clair Club were the guests of the members at a most enjoyable Christmas party. The pavilion was gaily decorated for the occasion, and a large Christmas cake made by the president, Mrs Stewart, adorned the afternoon tea table. Halfhour games were played on the lawns, the winners being Mrs McCaul and Miss A. Sparrow. On a recent Saturday the members journeyed to Waihola and spent a very enjoyable day at the beautiful country' residence of the secretary, Mrs C. Baker. A trip on the lake, in a motor boat added to the pleasure of the day’s outing.
