JUNIOR RED CROSS
The final functions and earnings for the Junior Red Cross cause have resulted in the receipt of £45 since December T, and several circles requested that their donations should be spent on food for overseas children. The Sandymount Queenstown, South Otago High School, St. Hilda’s College, Concord, Whare Flat, Balclutha Primary and Wanaka Circles were the donors, and a fine quilt, warm woollies, and beautifully made baby clothes showed that the girls were doing good work. Boys at the Queenstown District High School made boats for crippled children to float on the pool at the physiotherapy department at the public hospital, and several town juniors have helped to make paper hats and decorations for the children’s ward and the Kew Convalescent Home,
Some 70 crippled children have received a gift from Junior Red Cross funds, and donations have been given to the Citizens’ Day Nursery, the Occupational Centre, and the Montecillo Home. Christmas cheer and other donations will be sent to the Talboys Hospital and tire Health Camp. The Wyllie’s Crossing Circle has sent in a very fine portfolio in return for one sent from Canada.
