ROYAL FAMILY’S PLANS FOR CHRISTMAS DAY
NZPA—Copyright LONDON, Dec. 22. Plans have been completed by the King and Queen for Christmas at « Buckingham Palace, the first they have spent in London for many years. There will be a small family luncheon party at the palace, at which Queen Mary will be present, together with Princess Elizabeth. Princess Margaret and the Duke of Edinburgh. This will be Queen Mary’s first Christmas in London since she was a little girl living with her parents at Kensington Palace. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, with their children,' will be staying at their country home, Barnw’ell Manor, near Dundee, and the Duchess of Kent ’ and her children will be at her home. Copnins. at Iver, Buckinghamshire. After luncheon, which will consist pf roast Norfolk turkey and Christmas pudding, the King will broadcast his Christmas message to the nation and Commonwealth.
Until this year the King has always opened Sandringham House' for the festivities, but his doctors advised him not to travel For two members of the Roval Family, Christmas Day i« a double event. Both the Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Alexandi'a of Kent were born on Christmas Day.
Tne King and Queen. Queen Mary and other members of the Royal Family will attend divine service in the music room at Buckingham Palace on Christmas morning.
