Yaks’ Tails Make Ideal Whiskers For Santa Claus
From the United Press The Chinese Government is looking askance at a delegation of Tibetan tradesmen who are visiting the United States and drumming up sales for yak tails for Santa Claus’s whiskers. The Government has no quarrel with Santa Claus, and it thinks that selling yak tails is a good idea. Nor does it dispute Tibetan claims that yak tails are the world’s best for the chin adornments of Father Christmas. It does insist, however, that sales must be made through Government channels. Accordingly, the Chinese Embassies in Washington and London have been instructed to tell the Tibetans to clear their yak tails through official trade attaches. The United States Government, it is understood, has assured the Chinese Government that the yak tail expedition has hot changed American policy towards Tibet, and' that it still regards Tibet as part of Chinese territory.
