GEORGETOWN SPORTS

The twentieth annual sports meeting to be held at Georgetown on Saturday on the property of Mr Johnston, next to the Awamoko Hall, has created wide Interest and support from the sportsmen and public of Otago and South Canterbury. Entries for the dancing, cycling and running events are the best ever received. Much interest will undoubtedly be taken in the cycling events, in which a field of 50 has entered, including 20 amateurs and 30 in the cash events. Among the entrants in the cash events is the New Zealand champion from Timaru. Mr V. Mathie will' be present with his sound system, and it is hoped to give a running commentary of all races. Afternoon tea will be provided, and the North Otago Highland Pipe Band will be in attendance. Three buses will run from Oamaru. the time tables for these having been advertised. A dance will be held after the sports in the Awamoko Hall, and a free bus will run from Oamaru.
