PERFECT CONDITIONS FOR WEEK-END ANGLING

The majority of the rivers in North Otago are again reported to be in ideal condition for week-end anglers. The Waitaki is low and clear, but the run of feed at the mouth has stopped, and very few fish are now being taken there. The majority of anglers using this river are employing the fly in preference to the devon. The upper reaches of the river and tributaries are still In good order, but are failing to produce fish in any numbers. The Hakataramea is in good order, but is not fishing well, and no large bags have been reported. The Kakanui mouth has recently been closed, and at the present time is barely running. Bags so far this season dp not compare favourably with those of past years.
