State Employees Approach Cabinet With Wage Claims

Special Correspondent WELLINGTON, Oct. 29. To press the claims of civil servants for a decision from the Government on the recommendations of the .Margins and Anomalies Committee, State employee organisations . have held further discussions with the Cabinet Sub-committee. The principal proposal in the recommendations of the Margins Committee was for increases up to 3d an hour or 10s a week in the wages of tradesmen and labourers. The staff organisations seek corresponding adjustments, which will affect many thousands of workers . throughout the service. Further discussions with the Cabinet Subcommittee are likely before the ..decision is reached. National officers of the Public Ser- ' Vice Association are scheduled to address a mass meeting of Christchurch public servants next week.
