CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

LECTURE ON PRINCIPLES “Christian Science: The Science of Existence,” was the subject of a lecture given in the Concert Chamber last night by Dr Hendrik J. de Lange, C. 5.8., a member of the Board of Lectureship of the Mother Church, the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, Massachusetts. According to Christian Science, the biblical declaration that God is one and all revealed the basic truth of existence, Dr de Lange said. Thus Christian Science challenged the increasing complexities and complications of material sense testimony. The understanding of Christian Science as the science of existence had a practical value in daily life. The discovery of the founder of the movement, Mrs Mary Baker Eddy, showed the necessity of being willing to reject erroneous modes of thinking. * By fundamentally living this science of existence, Dr de Lange continued, the Christian Scientist was experiencing his Divine selfhood-existence as it really was. Thereby he was benefiting humanity by spiritually expressing in every-day life the beauty of existence, its liberty, nobility, joy: its bounty, blessedness, and progressive’ unfolding.
