AMATEUR WRESTLING
ADOPTION OF OLYMPIC RULES P.A. WELLINGTON, Oct. 28. An amendment to the Police Offences (Wrestling Contest) Regulations published to-night provides that in contests between amateur wrestlers the time occupied in actual wrestling shall not exceed 15 minutes. The amendment states that if after six minutes’ wrestling neither of the wrestlers has a definite lead the referee shall interrupt the bout and after a break he shall, in agreement with the majority of judges, order that the contest continue for a further period not exceeding nine minutes with such breaks as he may order. A senior Police Department official said the amendment had been introduced to bring New Zealand amateur wrestling in line with Olympic rules.
