Sandpiper Has Good Prospects

One of the best prospects among the improving pacers this season should be the Sandydale mare Sandpiper, who last season was started 19 times for four wins, three seconds, and two thirds. Previously trained by L. Tilson at Balclutha, Sandpiper is now in the Oamaru stable of J. M Bain and she will have her next race in the Heathcote Handicap at the Metropolitan meeting. Sandpiper was taken as far north as Kaikoura last season, and she won the principal handicap there. Her other wins were the Wyndham Cup, the Waitaki Handicap at Oamaru, and the Final Handicap at the Canterbury Park meeting. ,

Thames Cup Winner Bexdale, the winner of the Thames Trotting Cup on Saturday*is a five-year-old mare by Josedale Grattan from Bexley Girl, by Jack Potts from Raven’s Girl. Last season she won one race and was placed in six others. Working Well Easter Parade has been working well at Addington for S. A. Edwards and will be ready to race early in the new season. A six-year-old gelding by Dillon Hall, Easter Parade is out of Fancy Free, by Louis Direct from Arethusa, by Wrack from Trix Pointer, winner of the New Zealand Cup in 1919.
