ANNUAL ROAD RACE

CAVERSHAM CLUB EVENT The Caversham Harrier Club held its annual Brighton to Green Island Road Race on Saturday afternoon. Twenty-one starters were set off by Mr J. Tapp. At the two-mile peg T. Cruden was leading, with the rest of the field strung out behind. When Valpy’s Corner was reached the field was well bunched, with L. Hebbard, K. Knox and R. Martin slightly in the lead. Over the last 100 yards R. Martin sprinted ahead of L. Hebbard, to break the tape first. Results:—R. Martin 1 l. Hebbard 2, K. Knox 3. Fastest times: A. Arthur (35min 59sec) 1, L. Gerrie 2. J. Cain 3.
