SPEECH COMPETITION
In. her report to the Waitaki High School Board of Governors yesterday, the lady principal, Miss J. B. Wilson, reported that the annual speech competitions at the school had been completed and the results were:— Form I.—Rosslyn Riley 1, Daphne Blomfield, Alison Smith and Joan Chapman (equal) 2. Foriri ll.—Adrienne Learmonth 1, Joan Rushton, Grace Anderson and Margaret Anderson (equal) 2. ... Form lll.—Lesley Brown 1, Islay McKillop 2. Form IV.—Ann Barclay 1, Adrienne Hill 2. Form V.—Barbara Kent and Doreen Fraser (equal) 1, Elizabeth Brocklebank and Peggy Robertson (equal) 2. There were good entries for the annual literary competitions which resulted:— Senior Prose.—Valerie Dickson 1, Alison Nimmo, Roberta Eccles and Marjory Gray (equal) 2. Senior Stories,—Lois Porter 1. Senior Verse.—Ngaire McKerrow 1, Moira Wilkinson, Patricia Hore and Heather Orr (equal) 2. Intermediate Prose.—Helen Fraser 1. Elizabeth Blomfield and Judith Morrison (equal) 2. Intermediate Verse.—Adrienne Hill 1, Judith Hutchison and Audrey Kent (equal) 2.
