SOCCER NOTES
The Oamaru Club is to play Otago juniors as a curtain-raiser to the Australia v. Otago match at Dunedin on August 25. The Oamaru team is:—Docherty, White, Pheloung, Hector, Brown. Doren, Mavor, Heselgrave, Howie, Woods, Metcalfe, Thomas.
Two junior gafiTes will be played between Oamaru and King’s High School and Oamaru and Special School on Saturday. The teams are:— Oamaru v. King’s.—Thomas (captain), Sutherland, Phelourfy, Manson, Heselgrave, Bradley, Napier, Codings, Gardner, Daniels, Paulson.
Oamaru v. Special School. —Murray, Daniels, McLean, Lowen, Chalmers, Griffiths, Gibson, Sandri, Haggerty, Bent, McNatty, Lunberg.
No matches will be played in Oamaru on August 21 because of the South Island Minor Association's v. Australia game at Timaru. Some good games were seen last weelfend. Playing Hydro at Kurow, Oamaru led 3 to nil at half-time, but on changing over Hydro forced the game and held a lead of 4 goals to 3 with 10 minutes to go. Oamaru fought back and just on time Gardner evened the score, to make the final result Oamaru 4, Hydro 4.
