ADMIRAL SIR PATRICK BRIND APPOINTED LONDON, July 11. Vice-admiral Sir E. J. Patrick Brind has been appointed Commander-in-chief of the British Pacific Fleet, succeeding Admiral Sir Denis Boyd in December. Sir Patrick Brind held the rank of commodore aboard King George V when the Bismark was sunk He became Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff in 1942 and helped to plan the Allied landings in Normandy. He is 6ft 2in tall and still retains his cadet nickname of “Daddy.”
