Fake S.O.S. Calls On Illegal Radio
WASHINGTON, Rec. 9 p.m. June 8. Fake radio S.O.S. calls rr/orting planes r in distress have been traced to two 16-year-old boys who installed a wav surplus radio' transmitter in the dormitory of a private military academy in Portland, Oregon. The boys sent out fake distress calls at infrequent intervals over a six months’ period, resulting in planes and ground parties making several searches for crashed aircraft before mobile locators found the illegal set. The boys were warned but not punished.
