Jottings Acceptances for the third day of the „ Dunedin meeting are due to-day. Sphere has been withdrawn from th* hurdle event at Wingatui next. Saturday. The rider of Cloud Song lost his iron* at the start of the Southern Handicap . yesterday. Unlucky The Turk was one of the last to leave in the Novice Handicap and when he was threading his way through th.e field he appeared to run into trouble and dropped back. Never Looked Likely There was solid support for Arabian Night in the hurdles at Wingatui yesterday, but he did not run up to expectations and never looked like, reaching a place. . r Promising Hurdler Vanity King was unlucky to miss a place in the June Hurdle Handicap as he hooked the first jump, badly and lost , a a lot of ground. He made up the leeway gradually and after being seventh into the straight lie was just beaten for third. He should develop into a winner over hurdles before long. ’ Under Pressure Super did not appear to be quite at home in the going at Wingatui yesterday and was being desperately ridden a long way from home. The betting indicated that he is a very fit horse and it will be interesting to see how he shapes on firmer going. Night Owl’s Fall Night Owl, who was ridden by W. D. Skelton in the Southern Handicap at Wingatui yesterday, lost his rider after the field had gone about half a furlong. The stipendiary steward in a report submitted to the press stated that the occurrence Was purely accidental.
