NOT SENT AS CHARITY

DOMINION FOOD PARCELS FOR BRITAIN Rec. 8 p.m. LONDON, May 26. The New Zealand High Commissioner, Mr W. J. Jordan, speaking at a luncheon of the Chemical Engineering Group of the Society of Chemical Industries, said New Zealand people hoped in 1948 to send at least 1,500.000 food parcels to friends in Britain. “It is our way of saying thank you for the kindness extended to our servicemen and women in war-time. The sending of parcels is not charity and not' pity, but admiration.”
