MOVE IN UNITED STATES CONGRESS SUPPLIES TO JEWISH STATE N.Z.P.A.—Copyright WASHINGTON, May 26. * Congressman Jacob Javits to-day introduced a Bill to provide a 100,000.000dollar military aid programme for Israel. The Bill would furnish Israel with military supplies and technical assistance on a lend-lease basis. All supplies would be carried in American ships The Bill would also amend the Greek-Turkish aid programme to in : elude Israel. Mr Javits said he woulo urge a United States military liaison for Israel similar to that now m Greece The ' Presidential Secretary, Mr Charles Ross, said to-day that no action on lifting the American arms embargo was imminent. , Mr Ross also disclosed that, in spite of the great perturbation felt in Whitehall over Ihe effect that the American loan to Israel would have on the Arabs, Britain had made no representations or protests to the United States about it. . ~ In comment on the Palestine situation to-day, a British Foreign Office spokesman said in London that, since tne Brussels Pact provided for the co-ordination of the Western nations foreign policy, the five Governments were in touch on the Palestine question, but no similar approach had been made to the dominion Governments. The spokesman said he considered the United States reported offer of a loan to Israel was ill-timed. The British Government deprecated any nipvc likely to discourage the Arab States accepting the cease fire ruling.
