OBITUARY
MR HANS KEIL Rec. 10 p.m. APIA, May 26. Hans Joachim Keil, sen., familiarly known as “ Count Keil,” died to-day at the age of 83. As a young man Mr Keil served in the Kaiser’s famous Death Head Hussars and also became an officer in an American cavalry” regiment. He arrived 4n Samoa during the German regime as an overseer at the Vailele plantation for a German firm. Since the New Zealand occupation, Mr Keil traded for Nelson and Company at their Mulifanua and Saleimoa stations until his retirement a few years ago. He leaves a widow, six sons and one daughter.
