TROTTING NOTES

By the Sporting Editor May 29 Canterbury Park T.C. June 5, 7 .. .. Ashburton T.C. Jottings Duncraig was balloted out of the Fendalton Handicap at Addington on Saturday. If Dragoman reproduces the form he showed at Forbury Park he should step close to a place in the principal event at Addington on Saturday. Probable Favourite As a result of his two impressive wins at the recent Forbury Park meeting, Make Believe will bo one of the public selections for the Fendalton Handicap at Addington on Saturday. Failed to Begin Coral Princess was confidently backed for the Winter Handicap at Hutt Park, but she lost her chance by failing to begin correctly. She is engaged in the Final Handicap at Addington on Saturday. Nicely 'Placed Pa.vboy looks nicely placed on 12 yards in the Addington Handicap at the Canterbury Park meeting on Saturday, and is assured of heavy support. One of N. L. Berkett's team, he has been unplaced in only one of his seven races this season. By Lucky Jack Bay Jack, who finished in a place in the Wai-iti Trot at Washdyke, is a six-year-old gelding by Lucky Jack from Claire Chimes, by Cathedral Chimes from a Wildwood Junior mare. Belmont Hall In spite of his disappointing showing at the Forbury Park meeting, Belmont Hall will be at a short price for the Ellesmere Handicap at Addington on Saturday. Broke at Start At the recent Oamaru meeting Mosquito lost her chance in the Waikaura Handicap by breaking at the start, but with a smooth beginning in the Addington Handicap at the Canterbury Park meeting next Saturday she might trouble better-backed runners. She has been started 14 times this season for two wins and four placings. From Estella Amos Red Raider, who recently won a maiden race at Healesville. Victoria, is by Raider, the sire of Lone Raider, who won tile main event at Hutt Park on Saturday, from the American-bred mare Estella Amos, who left winners in New Zealand in Indianapolis, Ganton, and Imperial Jade before being sold to go to Tasmania in 1938. To Wrack, Estella Amos produced Miraculous in Tasmania, and this pacer is now one of the best performers at the Melbourne meetings. Attack One of the most promising four-year-olds in commission is Attack, whose record so far this season is four starts for two wins, a second, and a third in four starts. His first win was in the Weston Handicap at the Oamaru Jockey Club's meeting in March, when he won in 3min 22 2-ssec from a 3min 37sec mark. At the Metropolitan meeting a week later he finished second to Belmont Hall In the New Zealand Pacing Stakes. He gave 24 yards to the winner, and was beaten by seven lengths. He had his next race at the Wellington meeting last month, when he finished third in the Carterton Handicap to West Point and Worthydale. He was on 24 yards, West Point on 12, and Worthydale on 60. On the second day of the same meeting he won the Suburban Handicap easily from Play Boy and Gold Case. A brown horse by Light Brigade from Sparkling Sunshine, Attack has a particularly bright future, ■ and he will probably be one of the favourites for the Peninsula Handicap at Addington on Saturday.
