Roman Son At the Dunedin winter meeting last season Roman Son won the Otago Steeples with 9.12, was second in the Wingatui Steeples with 10.7, and was third in the Dunedin Steeples with 10.12. The 10-year-old Inflation gelding is engaged at next month’s meeting. Beau Repaire Youngster The Beau Repaire two-year-old Beaugency will have his next race at the Dunedin meeting next month. He was got from Palmyra.' by Paladin from Sweet Beauty, by Grey.spear from Sweet Smile, a mare tracing back to Trenton, and he is trained for Mr Scott Ramsay by L. J. Ellis. Only' One Appearance Pencarrow had his only race this season in the Awarua Handicap at the Southland meeting last month and ran at the rear of the field throughout. The Salmagundi gelding's only placed performance in 10 starts last season was a second to Joy Rosa in the Ranfurly Handicap at the Dunedin spring meeting. In the previous season he won the Duke of Gloucester Cup at Wingatui. Promising Performance The two-year-old Don't Listen put up a promising performance to finish thii d to Top Class and All's Fair in the Novice Stakes at Oamaru in March. She was a long way from the leaders when the field settled down, but came with a sustained run in the straight to be a head and a neck away from the winner. Taken to Riccarton at Easter, she ran third to Skyzami and Beaugency in the Russley Handicap. The Salmagundi filly has been nominated for the Dunedin meeting. Great Northern Re-liandicaps The following rehandicaps for the Great Northern Hurdles and the Cornwall Handicap at Ellerslie on June 5 have been declared by Mr A. The Grate Injured The Grate had a fortunate escape from serious injury while she was turned out in a paddock at Washdyke last week. One of her rugs came adrift and she took fright and dashed through two fences. She suffered slight injuries to her chest and lost some skin off her front legs. Her owner-trainer, D. P. Wilson, said at Washdyke on Saturday that she did not appear to have suffered any serious injury, but she would be off the scene for some time.
