Hinemoa for Survey in Otago Dock
The Union Steam Ship Company's interisland passenger vessel Hinemoa will arrive at Port Chalmers on June 20 to enter the Otago dock for her annual survey. This will be the ship’s first visit to the Port of Otago and it is ■ necessary because no docks are available in the north. Although no decision has yet been made, it is possible that the other interisland vessel, the Rangatira, will also undergo a survey at Port Chalmers. While the Hinemoa, and later, the Rangatira, are being overhauled, the Wahine, which has been withdrawn from her trans-Tasman run, will relieve these ships in the interisland service. One of the first passenger ships built after the war. the Hinemoa has been running in the interisland service since February of last year. Of 6900 tons gross, her length is 400 feet, her beam 68 feet and her loaded draught 17 feet. Ships up to 530 feet in length can enter the Otago dock.
