COMPTON AND EDRICH CREATE NEW RECORD LONDON, May 21. Compton and Edrich created a new English third-wicket record in 'scoring 424 runs for Middlesex against Somerset. Compton hit three G’s and 37 4’s in his 252 not out, and Edrich hit one G and 18 4’s in his 168 not out. In the Essex-Notts match an Essex batsman was dismissed with the last ball of the match, when, with eight Essex wickets down, the aggregate scores in the two innings were equal. The old laws made this a tie, but the new laws operating this suinmer make it a draw. Middlesex v. Somerset.—Middlesex: First innings, two for 478 declared (Edrich not out 168, Compton not out 252); second innings, none for 29. Somerset: First innings, 194 (Gray four for 27), followed on for 310. Middlesex won by 10 wickets. Derby v. Hampshire.—Derby: First innings six for 445 declared (Pope not out 207, Rhodes not out 105; second innings, four for 158 declared. Hampshire: First innings, 312 (Dawson HO); second innings, nine for 106. The match was drawn. ... 'Notts v. Essex.—Notts: First innings, 371 (Keeton 102, Simpson 123; P.
