WIN OVER OXFORD
AUSTRALIA’S PROBLEM STILL NOT SOLVED BOWLERS FOR FIRST TEST N.Z.P.A.—Copyright LONDON, May 21. Australia's win over Oxford University by an innings and - 90 runs was statistically pleasing—it was the team’s seventh successive outright victory—but the match did nothing to solve the problem what bowlers Australia will play in the first test, which will begin on June 10 at Nottingham, says the Australian Associated Press correspondent with tire team. There is nothing to choose between Ring and McCool for the leg-spinner’s place. Each bowled some good balls, but many bad ones. Nor was there anything to choose between Toshack and W. Johnston for the left-hand spinner's place in the test team. The Australians dismissed the last six Oxford batsmen for 104 runs in exactly two hours before lunch to-day. The Pakistan left-hander, Kardar, treated the attack almost disdainfully until he was bowled with a ball that landed on a dusty patch and shot straight through along the ground.
