Dr and Mrs D. G. McMillan have returned to Dunedin from a holiday in Central Otago. . , Mr H G Woolman, of Reckitt and Coiman (N.Z.), Ltd., Dunedin, left by the through express on Saturday on the first stage of a visit to the head office in England. The delegates of the Otago and Southland War Amputees’ Association Messrs H. Irvine, A. J. Gordon and L Dorney (Otago) and C. E. Wilson and Bell (Southland) returned on Saturday from Christchurch, where they attended the annual conference of the New Zealand War Amputees’ Association. The appointment of Mr H. Holderness as acting general manager for New Zealand of the New Zealand Shipping Company during the absence of the general manager, Mr F. W Spite, on a visit to England, has been announced by Mr John Deans, chairman of the company’s New Zealand board of directors. Mr Deans has also announced that Mr J. J. Parker, manager of the Invercargill branch, has been appointed local manager at Timaru. Mr J. R. Shorter, of the Auckland branch, has been appointed acting local manager in Invercargill. Mr D. S. L. Sharpe, assistant to chief accountant, will transfer to Timaru as local accountant.
Three of the six growers’ representatives on the New Zealand Wool Board will retire in August, and there will be an election among growers to fill the vacancies. The three retiring members all offer themselves for reelection. They are: Mr W. Horrobin, of Waikanae, who is vice-chairman of the board, Mr H. J. Wardell, of Kurow, and Mr E. A. Cameron, of Riversdale.
